Brex is seeking a Staff Brand Designer to lead the evolution of its brand identity system. This is a strategic and hands-on role within a cross-disciplinary design team that includes product designers, brand designers, content strategists, and marketing leaders.
You will own and evolve Brex's brand identity system, including visual language, typography, color, illustration, and brand patterns. Key responsibilities include defining and maintaining brand standards that balance consistency with creative flexibility across teams and channels; translating company strategy and brand vision into clear visual direction in partnership with leadership; designing new brand expressions that advance the identity while preserving recognition; leading high-impact brand work including special campaigns, sub-brands, and product launches; art directing brand campaigns in collaboration with external partners and internal teams; and providing guidance across the organization to raise the quality and effectiveness of brand execution.
You'll work closely with Marketing leaders, Web and Product teams, and creative partners to ensure the brand identity is distinctive, scalable, and reflects Brex's ambition. This role requires a systems thinker who can envision the big picture while obsessing over craft details.
Required qualifications include 7+ years of brand design or art direction experience with a strong focus on identity systems and brand evolution; a portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, system design, and high-quality execution; deep expertise in typography, color, composition, and scalable visual systems; strong ability to articulate design decisions and build alignment with cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders; experience in fast-paced, evolving environments; fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite; and practical experience using AI tools in the creative process.
Bonus experience includes motion, video, or illustration applied to brand systems or campaigns, and art directing complex brand work with external creative partners.
The role is hybrid, based in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York, with a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) and up to four weeks per year of fully remote work.
