Normal Computing, founded by former Google Brain and Google X engineers, is building AI-optimized hardware and software infrastructure. The company is hiring a Staff Accountant to establish and scale the core accounting function as the organization grows across two product lines and five global offices (New York, San Francisco, London, Copenhagen, Pangyo).
You will partner closely with the Head of Finance to build accounting infrastructure from the ground up, including the close process, financial systems, and internal controls. This is a foundational role where you will shape how finance operates at Normal for years to come.
Key responsibilities include owning the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close (accruals, journal entries, reconciliations, reporting); implementing and maintaining accounting systems for revenue recognition, KPI reporting, and accrual workflows; managing tax compliance, external due diligence, and AR/AP functions end-to-end; driving process improvements and internal controls; and building an AI-native accounting capability that leverages AI to increase efficiency while maintaining verification and judgment in your hands.
You bring 5+ years of accounting experience, including experience building an accounting function at a high-growth startup. Public accounting or Big 4 background is preferred. You hold a BA/BS in accounting or equivalent experience. You are low-ego, high-agency, and solve problems wherever you find them. You are excited to work at the intersection of finance and AI, establishing best practices and precedent for a scaling organization.
