The Sr. Training Manager will lead the development, delivery, and execution of comprehensive training programs for pharmaceutical clients. This role combines instructional design expertise with deep pharmaceutical knowledge, requiring the ability to translate complex disease states, market landscapes, and product-specific information into engaging learning experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and managing all training materials (slide presentations, workshops, reference guides, job aids, modules) through legal, regulatory, and medical review cycles
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to create dynamic, modern learning content
- Facilitating live and virtual training sessions with strong platform proficiency
- Providing train-the-trainer services, new hire onboarding, and sustainment curriculum
- Managing training project plans with detailed task tracking, issue escalation, and risk identification
- Onboarding, developing, and coaching field-based trainers and emerging sales leaders
- Supporting sales management teams at national, regional, and POA meetings
- Staying current with disease state materials, branded/unbranded content, and emerging training methodologies
- 50% travel based on client training needs
This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role that guides and mentors trainers and emerging leaders but does not manage a formal team. The role requires deep expertise in pharmaceutical training ecosystems, adult learning principles, instructional design, and the ability to execute complex, multi-component programs in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Arts or Science
- 3+ years as a successful pharmaceutical or medical equipment sales representative
- 5+ years in a national sales training department with curriculum development and delivery experience
- Previous experience in a pharmaceutical training environment (mandatory)
- Previous experience in pharmaceutical sales environment with training exposure (preferred)
- Experience supporting all aspects of detailed, multi-component programs from concept to completion
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven track record developing and executing successful training programs
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Familiarity with traditional and modern training processes and adult learning principles
- Working knowledge of instructional design
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strategic and creative mindset
- Meticulous attention to detail
Preferred:
- Product launch or major new indication launch experience
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or biotech sales or sales training
- Proficiency with Adobe Suite, Veeva, or similar software
- Learning Management System (LMS) experience
