Salary: USD 58,150 - 65,450 / annual
Remote is a global HR platform enabling businesses to recruit, pay, and manage international teams compliantly across 80+ countries. The company operates fully remote with a distributed workforce across six continents.
As Senior Specialist, Employee Relations & Transitions, you will independently manage all employee exits for Remote's external employees with a focus on legal compliance, quality service delivery, and customer satisfaction. You will also provide first-level employee relations support, guiding clients through workplace concerns and coordinating appropriate resources. As part of the larger Employee Lifecycle team, you will drive process improvements and initiatives aligned with Remote's strategic goals.
Key responsibilities include:
**Offboarding & Exit Management:**
- Manage complex end-to-end employee exits across multiple international jurisdictions with minimal supervision
- Provide expert guidance on termination, resignation, transfer procedures, employment contracts, and redundancy processes
- Lead and facilitate meetings with clients and external employees, including workforce reduction consultations, negotiations, and termination delivery
- Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations with multiple competing stakeholder interests
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (payroll, legal, government bodies, trade unions) to ensure compliance
- Draft, tailor, and administer termination documents with accuracy and attention to detail
- Process offboarding on Remote's HRIS platform, collaborating across Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and other teams
- Mentor junior team members and serve as trusted escalation point
**Employee Relations Support:**
- Provide comprehensive guidance on Remote's Employee Relations resources for complex workplace scenarios
- Conduct preliminary assessments of workplace concerns, identifying facts, applicable regulations, and paths forward
- Serve as trusted resource for internal and external stakeholders on employee relations matters
- Guide clients on progressive discipline, documentation, and best practices for difficult situations
- Track and monitor ongoing employee relations cases with timely follow-up
- Be subject-matter expert on offboarding and first-level employee relations matters
**Process Improvement:**
- Actively identify opportunities and drive process improvements, automation, and product development
- Determine methods, procedures, and standards for new assignments
- Exercise judgment in selecting and adapting complex techniques to achieve results aligned with Lifecycle and Remote needs
You will report to the Manager, Employee Lifecycle, Employee Relations & Transitions and work within the Lifecycle team.
**Requirements:**
- Experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner with generalist HR competencies across the employee lifecycle
- Proven background independently managing voluntary and involuntary exits (terminations) with care, sensitivity, and legal compliance
- Comprehensive HR advice and guidance on employment laws and regulations across various jurisdictions
- Understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline approaches, and workplace investigation fundamentals
- Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments, analyze complex HR issues, and solve problems independently with minimal supervision
- Superior communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills; ability to lead difficult conversations independently while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
- Business-level (advanced) proficiency in written and spoken English; additional languages a plus
- Aptitude to innovate and optimize processes, identifying and implementing automation opportunities
- Efficiency in operations with strong record-keeping and data integrity awareness
- Tech-savvy with ability to collaborate asynchronously on various tools and adapt to evolving systems
- Ability to work autonomously in international, fast-paced, asynchronous remote environment while balancing competing priorities; willingness to work flexible hours
- Proactive, self-motivated with strong ownership, accountability, and ability to inspire others
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, labour relations, or employment law considered a plus
