Evryhealth is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead backend architecture and development for their healthcare platform. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant technical leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Backend Architecture & System Design: Lead the design and architecture of the backend platform, including service and API structure, asynchronous and real-time processing, rate limiting, resiliency, and relational/document data modeling. Document architectural decisions for stakeholders.
Senior-Level Backend Feature Development: Own the design and implementation of complex backend features using Node.js and TypeScript. Deliver production-quality code that sets the standard for the engineering team.
Node.js Services & Next.js API Development: Design and implement complex Next.js API routes and Node.js backend services, including API design and contracts, authentication/authorization, caching, messaging, and database design. Enable frontend and mobile teams to build on stable, well-documented interfaces.
Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Provide day-to-day technical leadership to the Node sub-team. Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and establish Node coding standards and best practices.
Performance, Testing & CI/CD Ownership: Own backend performance optimization, testing strategy, and CI/CD pipeline governance. Ensure HIPAA-compliant, secure, and high-availability services.
Work Environment: This is a fully remote position with the entire company working remotely. Candidates must reside in the Eastern or Central time zones (US). Company business hours are weekdays 9 AM–5 PM CST. Finalists will be required to attend an in-person interview at the Dallas, Texas headquarters. You must have a dedicated, secure work area with high-speed internet.
Requirements:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- 7+ years of professional software development experience with primary backend expertise
- Deep, demonstrable proficiency with Node.js, TypeScript, and Next.js (API routes) building production services and APIs
- Strong relational and document database design experience
- Experience deploying and operating services on a cloud platform (Azure preferred)
Preferred:
- 10+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack development
- Experience in healthcare technology, health insurance, or another regulated industry
- Experience with healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, X12, NCPDP) as applied to data integration and API design
- Experience with real-time systems (WebSockets), event-driven architecture, GraphQL/tRPC, and monorepo tooling
