ServiceNow's Unified Employee Experience (UEX) team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build front-end features for EmployeeWorks, an AI-first employee experience platform used by employees at the world's largest enterprises. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on web platform development.
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, test, and ship front-end features end-to-end, owning them through production
- Build reusable components consumed by other teams, maintaining quality as requirements evolve
- Own performance as a core responsibility: understand browser behavior and optimize accordingly
- Debug complex problems across front-end and backend services, driving them to root cause
- Write automated tests to ensure reliability across releases
- Participate in design and code reviews to raise quality standards
- Integrate AI tools into your development workflow and help the team evaluate what works
- Collaborate closely with product and design teams, providing early technical feedback
- Mentor junior engineers as you grow
The team builds conversation-first experiences on web and mobile for an AI-native platform. You'll work on a large-scale SaaS product serving Fortune 500 companies, with emphasis on real-world performance on actual devices and networks.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, majority in web front-end development
- Strong hands-on expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, with solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, OOP, and design patterns
- Strong experience with modern component-based UI frameworks (Lit, React, Angular, Vue) and working understanding of web components
- Deep understanding of browser fundamentals: rendering, DOM, event loop, network behavior
- Hands-on front-end performance experience: profiling slow pages and fixing them
- Track record of owning features from design through production and debugging production issues
- Working proficiency in a server-side language (Java, Node.js, Python, Go)
- Experience writing and maintaining automated tests for front-end code
- Clear communication and ability to work through requirements with product and design
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving
PREFERRED:
- Exposure to building front ends on top of AI or LLM-driven capabilities
- Experience contributing to design systems or shared component libraries
- Experience with front-end observability or real user performance monitoring
- Familiarity with large-scale SaaS platforms
