SingleStore is a venture-backed, cloud-native database company headquartered in San Francisco. The company delivers a distributed SQL database that unifies transactions and analytics, enabling data-intensive applications to operate at scale.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Managed Service (Helios) team, you will build and own release-defining projects at the intersection of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, networking, and database technology. Helios operates thousands of SingleStore clusters across AWS, Azure, and GCP—autonomously deployed, scaled, secured, and healed on top of Kubernetes—at the frontier of multi-cloud, multi-region, multi-tenant, low-latency, always-on systems.
You will work across the control plane, the data plane, the operator, networking, storage, and the customer portal with true end-to-end ownership. Your responsibilities include:
• Lead complex, cross-functional technical initiatives from conception to deployment
• Work closely with product managers, designers, customers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality experiences
• Drive the team's engineering standards, championing best practices in system design, code quality, testing, observability, and CI/CD pipelines
• Solve complex, mission-critical system problems with scalable, maintainable, and resilient solutions
• Mentor and guide junior team members, coordinate with stakeholders, and contribute to process improvements
• Communicate complex technical decisions and trade-offs clearly, including their impact on system performance, reliability, and business outcomes
• Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and G&A to support product delivery and customer success
Note: This role is open across multiple levels (Senior, Staff, or Principal). Final leveling will be determined based on experience, scope of impact, and demonstrated technical leadership throughout the interview process.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ years of experience developing and debugging system-level software in languages similar to Golang or TypeScript
• Strong understanding of and hands-on experience with distributed systems and cloud services
• Track record of leading non-trivial projects from design through production rollout, navigating ambiguity
• Strong communication skills with a passion for mentoring peers and fostering collaborative team culture
• Passion for building high-quality, robust, and maintainable products in fast-paced, team-oriented environments
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience building cloud-native SaaS platforms
• Experience with frontend web frameworks like React
• Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical projects
