Tessera Labs is hiring a Senior QA Engineer to own testing strategy and automation across the full software development lifecycle. This is a strategic, hands-on role focused on building quality into the development process from the start, not catching issues at the end.
You will own the complete test strategy end-to-end, design and write test cases, and automate them using established open-source testing tools. You'll integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines so they run on every meaningful code change. Your responsibilities include planning and executing multiple testing types—integration, system, regression, stress, load, and performance testing—while keeping test cases and plans current as the product evolves.
You'll work closely with developers and product teams to define acceptance criteria, shift testing left, and make quality a shared responsibility across the organization. You'll triage test failures, drive root-cause analysis on escaped defects, and ensure durable fixes are implemented. You'll also report on quality signals (coverage metrics, flake rates, escaped defects) in actionable ways the team can use to improve.
In your first 90 days, you'll assess current test coverage and identify high-leverage gaps, get automated test coverage running in the pipeline on every meaningful change, and establish a clear, lightweight process for triaging failures and preventing repeat defects.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong test automation skills with a proven track record of designing test strategy and automating it on top of established open-source testing tools
- Deep, practical understanding of the SDLC and where testing fits at each stage
- Proven experience writing test cases and test plans
- Hands-on experience across multiple testing types: integration, system, regression, and stress/performance testing
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Strong communication skills; ability to work directly with developers and make a clear, persuasive case for quality
- Sufficient experience with Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
NICE TO HAVE:
- Strong proficiency with Python, JS/TS
- Familiarity with open-source testing tools (Playwright or Cypress for end-to-end, pytest for unit and integration, k6 or Locust for load and stress testing)
- Exposure to testing cloud or containerized (Kubernetes) workloads
- Experience supporting SOC 2 or similar compliance programs by producing test evidence
- Background in enterprise or regulated environments where reliability is critical
- Experience in early-stage environments where one person owns a broad testing surface
