Long Wall Company, founded in 2024, is accelerating missile defense technology for the U.S. and allies. The company specializes in ballistic missile defense and is developing Cyclops, a low-cost, mass-producible interceptor, along with containerized launchers and low-cost targets for threat replication.
The Senior Project Engineer for the Cyclops Interceptor Program drives the rapid engineering and integration effort underpinning development of Long Wall's major interceptor system. This role ensures internal priorities, resources, and schedules remain synchronized with technical baselines, enabling fast, disciplined execution within a private-investment-driven development environment complemented by government-funded testing. Specific focus is on solid rocket motor (SRM) development, ensuring propulsion engineering activities align with the Cyclops technical baseline and program priorities.
While the Program Manager handles customer-facing commitments, the Project Engineer owns the engineering-centric project flow: coordinating cross-functional development, maintaining internal schedule fidelity, resolving execution roadblocks, and ensuring technical work stays aligned with project goals, verified requirements, and readiness needs. The role partners closely with chief engineering, responsible engineers, systems engineering, and mission assurance to protect technical integrity while ensuring consistent development velocity.
Key responsibilities include driving day-to-day internal execution of Cyclops SRM development; maintaining detailed internal schedules, resource plans, and cross-functional work coordination; managing internal priorities and development flow; coordinating with the Program Manager to ensure internal execution supports external commitments; facilitating technical decision flow through documented, coordinated, and tracked engineering discussions; working directly with engineering discipline leads to identify and resolve roadblocks; supporting integration and test operations; tracking and communicating internal risks, schedule drivers, and technical dependencies; maintaining alignment with systems engineering requirements and verification flows; supporting chief engineering to ensure development activities align with the technical baseline; and helping build scalable project management processes for future programs.
The role is currently remote, based out of Huntsville, AL. As Long Wall grows, the company anticipates establishing a site in the Huntsville area, and the person in this role will be expected to transition to full-time onsite or hybrid schedule based on business needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline, or equivalent experience in complex aerospace or defense development
- 8+ years of experience in engineering project management, integration leadership, or technical project execution
- Demonstrated experience coordinating engineering teams, managing schedules, and driving technical development cycles
- Strong experience with engineering workflow management, development planning, and coordinating cross-functional technical work
- Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-paced environments combining private-investment-driven development with government test requirements
- Ability to interpret engineering artifacts, requirements, and configurations and convert them into actionable schedules and resource plans
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; capable of aligning engineering teams, surfacing risks early, and maintaining clarity across disciplines
- Demonstrated ability to partner closely with technical authorities (chief engineering, systems engineering, mission assurance) to ensure disciplined technical execution
- US person status required (US citizens, permanent residents, individuals granted asylum, or admitted as refugees) due to ITAR export control requirements
PREFERRED:
- Experience with solid rocket motor development, integration, manufacturing, test, and readiness
- Experience supporting missile defense, launch vehicle development, aerospace hardware integration, or other technically complex systems
- Familiarity with requirements flow-down, verification planning, ICD management, and configuration control
- Prior experience working within hybrid program environments (internal rapid development + government-funded test campaigns)
- Working knowledge of common project management tools for scheduling, risk control, and engineering tracking
- Ability to translate ambiguous technical input into structured execution plans
