Anthropic is seeking a Program Manager to lead cross-functional coordination across its Safeguards organization, which comprises three integrated teams: Policy Design, Enforcement, and Threat Intelligence. These teams collectively define and enforce the policies that govern how Claude can be used, detect violations, and investigate sophisticated misuse and emerging threats.
In this role, you will serve as the organizational backbone for these three teams, managing complex dependencies and ensuring alignment across the company. You will own the operating rhythm—including quarterly planning, priority setting, status tracking, and decision documentation—while coordinating with research, product, engineering, legal, and communications teams to surface dependencies early and prevent surprises.
Key responsibilities include: establishing and running cross-functional program management across all three teams; coordinating policy work with partner teams to ensure dependencies are surfaced early; driving readiness for policy, enforcement, and threat intelligence work tied to model launches and product releases; owning the external publication process for blog posts and threat reports from ideation through publication; identifying risks, blockers, and resourcing gaps with proposed solutions; and building lightweight processes that accelerate team velocity.
You will work closely with organizational leadership to spot risks early, clear blockers, and maintain alignment. The role requires comfort with sensitive topics, including potential exposure to explicit content of a sexual, violent, or psychologically disturbing nature, and may require occasional late nights or weekend work.
This is an ideal fit for someone who brings structure to ambiguous, fast-moving work without adding unnecessary overhead, and who can earn the trust of policy experts, researchers, and engineers alike.
**Requirements:**
- Experience running cross-functional programs in fast-moving technical environments with a track record of shipping on time across teams you don't manage
- Ability to break big goals into plans, owners, and milestones, and keep them current as priorities shift
- Strong written communication skills, including clear status updates, decision records, and executive summaries
- Experience managing review and approval processes with multiple stakeholders (e.g., publications, launches, policy releases)
- Sound judgment about when a process adds value versus overhead; bias toward the lightest effective process
- Comfort working on sensitive topics and maintaining high confidentiality standards
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience
- A field of study relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
**Preferred qualifications:**
- Program management experience in trust & safety, product policy, enforcement operations, threat intelligence, or AI safety
- Familiarity with AI model development and launch cycles, and how policy, enforcement, and threat intelligence integrate
- Experience coordinating external publications, research releases, or public communications
- Experience using AI tools, including agentic tools, to automate tracking, reporting, and recurring program work
