Salary: USD 150,000 - 210,000 / annual
Vibrant Planet is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the early-stage utilities line of business from 0.5 to 100. The company builds software that monitors and forecasts wildfire and climate risk, helping customers like CAL FIRE, USFS, and PG&E develop actionable mitigation plans across communities, infrastructure, and natural capital.
You will report to the Chief Product Officer and own the product roadmap for utility applications, partnering closely with fire science, analytics, engineering, design, and business development teams. Key responsibilities include:
**Customer Insight & Advocacy**: Become the expert on named account user experiences through direct interviews, prototyping, data analysis, and research. Advocate for user interests across the organization and moderate dogfooding exercises.
**Product Design & Delivery**: Synthesize user needs and technical capabilities into prioritized features. Own the roadmap, make transparent trade-offs, and collaborate with Design, Science, and Engineering to deliver on time. Communicate progress and risks to leadership.
**Business Strategy & Collaboration**: Develop business cases for new product bets, including pricing and go-to-market strategy. Define strategic differentiators and partner with leadership on growth mapping. Support sales and marketing with training and collateral.
You'll need 7+ years of product management experience with complex B2B or B2G products, proven zero-to-one experience, and a track record of customer discovery with technical or enterprise customers. Domain expertise in electric utilities, meteorology, or fire modeling is highly valued. STEM education or equivalent is preferred. Comfort with data and statistics is essential, as is the ability to work alongside deep domain experts and add value in an ambiguous startup environment.
The role is fully remote but requires Pacific or Mountain Time Zone hours and US location. Bay Area, Tahoe, and Missoula are preferred. Occasional travel (4-8 trips/year) is expected.
