OpenAI's Supply Chain Technology team is building and scaling systems and data architecture that power core supply chain operations. As a Senior Integrations Engineer, you will design, build, and operate integrations and custom applications connecting OpenAI's supply chain ecosystem across planning, fulfillment, and partner operations.
You will combine integration platforms, Python development, and APIs to deliver reliable data flows across enterprise systems, internal applications, and external partners. Working closely with Hardware Operations, Application Engineers, Product Managers, IT, and business teams, you will improve data integrity, automate operational workflows, and support transitions from legacy systems to modern cloud platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining integration architecture and reusable design patterns across the supply chain technology landscape, balancing reliability, security, maintainability, and delivery speed
- Building and supporting integrations connecting ERP and SCM systems, internal applications, e-commerce platforms, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), contract manufacturers (CMs), retailers, and distributors
- Developing workflows, APIs, event-driven services, and batch/file interfaces using appropriate platform capabilities and custom code
- Building production Python applications, integration services, reusable connectors, and operational tools with automated tests and maintainable interfaces
- Implementing API and EDI partner integrations, including data mappings, partner onboarding, end-to-end testing, and transaction reconciliation
- Developing Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, tools, and plugins connecting AI-enabled applications to supply chain systems with appropriate authorization, validation, audit trails, and transaction approvals
- Owning production reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident response, and recovery; diagnosing and resolving data synchronization errors, API failures, and performance bottlenecks
- Embedding access controls, segregation of duties, and auditability into integration design to support SOX compliance and internal control requirements
This is a hands-on engineering role with ownership across architecture, implementation, deployment, and ongoing production support.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of experience in integration development, architecture, and design with a track record of delivering and operating production systems
- Hands-on proficiency with at least two integration platforms (Workato, MuleSoft, Oracle Integration Cloud, or similar)
- Python as primary development language with production applications or integration services built using automated testing and sound engineering best practices
- Experience in high-volume environments such as customer-facing e-commerce; understanding of supply chain processes including order management, inventory, fulfillment, and returns
- Understanding of integration patterns, REST and SOAP services, asynchronous messaging, EDI, and data formats (JSON, XML, CSV)
- Direct experience building or maintaining third-party API integrations; knowledge of OAuth, webhooks, rate limits, pagination, retries, idempotency, and failure recovery
- Comfort with AWS or Azure and supporting technologies (Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch)
- Experience with microservices and containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
- Ownership of systems throughout production lifecycle, participation in on-call support, prioritization of reliability and operational readiness
- Ability to communicate technical issues and business impact clearly to both engineering teams and nontechnical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and turn business needs into practical technical solutions
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience building integrations to/from Oracle Fusion ERP or SCM, particularly across planning, procurement, manufacturing, inventory, logistics, and order management
- Experience developing MCP servers, plugins, or agentic automation for enterprise workflows
- Regular use of AI coding tools (Codex) with disciplined approach to reviewing, testing, and validating generated code
