Ambiq is seeking a Senior Director of SoC Architecture to lead the design of next-generation ultra-low-power AI system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for wearables, IoT devices, medical devices, and edge AI applications. This is a highly influential technical leadership role with broad ownership spanning early product concepts, architectural tradeoffs, implementation, silicon validation, and production.
You will define system architecture across processors, memory, interconnect, clocking, power management, and hardware accelerators. The core challenge: deliver significantly more intelligence and performance at the edge while consuming dramatically less power. You'll drive critical power, performance, area, and system-level tradeoffs for highly constrained embedded devices, develop detailed architecture and microarchitecture specifications, and create system dataflows and power/performance models.
Key responsibilities include making hardware/software partitioning decisions in partnership with software and systems teams, evaluating internal and third-party IP (including AI/ML accelerators), and influencing Ambiq's long-term technology roadmap. You'll partner with design, verification, FPGA, physical design, and software teams to translate architecture into working silicon, collaborate with customers and product teams to understand critical use cases, and support pre-silicon development through production readiness.
You'll provide technical leadership and mentorship across Ambiq's architecture and engineering organization. Ambiq has shipped over 300 million ultra-low-power chips since 2010, built on proprietary sub- and near-threshold technology. The company operates across Austin, Hsinchu, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Singapore with cross-functional teams spanning design, research, development, production, marketing, sales, and operations.
