RigUp is a source-to-pay software platform built for the energy sector, combining purpose-built software with expert teams to help energy companies and suppliers operate more efficiently. The company is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist based in Calgary to support operations across the organization on all matters related to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
The role encompasses two primary areas: HSE Operations Support and HSE Program Development. On the operations side, you will conduct incident investigations and post-accident follow-ups, complete incident reports, communicate learnings across business groups, advise workers on safety policies, respond to support tickets via ZenDesk and Zoom, attend client safety meetings, perform site audits, and serve as a safety subject matter expert during client audits. You will also ensure timely resolution of internal and external escalations and participate onsite in high-hazard environments to review safety measures.
On the program development side, you will analyze loss data to identify trends and recommend safety improvements, create and maintain HSE reporting, policies, and programs, coordinate with legal, people, and field operations teams to roll out HSE initiatives, measure the impact of safety programs through field partnerships, and support vendor pre-qualification by reviewing OSHA 300 logs, EMR data, and workers' compensation certificates. You will also stay current on industry trends and best practices, making recommendations to management to enhance RigUp's competitive position.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and thrives in fast-paced, field-focused environments. You bring strong analytical skills, deep understanding of safety regulations and best practices, and the ability to translate data into actionable improvements. You collaborate effectively, communicate with influence, and support a strong safety culture grounded in accountability. This position requires occasional regional travel and the ability to visit job sites as needed; regular in-office attendance is not expected.
