Anthropic is seeking a Corporate Development Sourcing Lead to drive the front-end of its strategic transactions practice. The role focuses on identifying, sourcing, and evaluating acquisition targets, strategic investments, and partnership opportunities aligned with Anthropic's mission to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.
Key responsibilities include building and maintaining a structured pipeline of potential acquisition targets and partnerships across business areas; partnering with product, engineering, research, and go-to-market teams to translate strategic priorities into sourcing criteria; conducting deep-dive evaluations of target companies including competitive positioning, technical differentiation, and team assessment; preparing investment memos and strategic briefings for senior review; developing relationships with founders, investors, and operators across the AI ecosystem; monitoring competitive landscape and emerging technologies; supporting due diligence and transaction execution; developing financial models and valuation frameworks; documenting learnings and market maps; and assisting in materials preparation for senior leadership decision-making.
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and genuine passion for the AI landscape. You thrive in ambiguous environments, synthesize complex information into clear strategic insights, and excel at building relationships with technical and business stakeholders. Minimum qualifications include strong technical understanding through work experience (software engineer, product manager, investor) or educational background (Computer Science or equivalent); exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills; exposure to M&A processes or strategic transactions in technology; ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders; comfort in fast-paced environments; strong written and verbal communication; and deep interest in AI safety aligned with Anthropic's mission.
Preferred qualifications include 6-8 years in corporate development, investment banking, venture capital, growth equity, or strategy consulting with technology exposure; direct experience in AI/ML companies or deep learning research; established network in AI startup ecosystem and venture capital community; strategy consulting or early-stage venture experience; MBA or advanced technical degree; and demonstrated ability to produce original market maps or competitive landscapes that informed strategic decisions.
