The company acquired sustainable e-grocer Imperfect Foods in 2022 and operates an in-house transportation network for carbon-efficient direct-to-consumer delivery, saving an average of 500,000 pounds of food per week from waste. The Sourcing & Category Manager for Meat & Seafood is a dual-purpose role combining third-party (3P) procurement and account management with category management responsibilities. The role owns end-to-end procurement and account management for 3P customers across multiple facilities, including new ingredient sourcing, demand forecasting, and cost negotiations. The manager acts as the lead representative for assigned categories to major accounts, delivering proactive communication and ensuring superior client experience. Key responsibilities include leading category sourcing for assigned produce or grocery categories, identifying new suppliers and unique product innovations to meet 3P requirements, and managing both short-term purchasing and long-term sustainable business strategies. The role partners with the 1st Party Misfits Merchandising team to negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers while monitoring vendor performance on reliability, quality, and compliance. The manager develops and executes contingency plans for supply chain disruptions and quality issues. This position manages a direct report (Buyer Analyst) responsible for demand planning and purchase order management, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development. Cross-functional collaboration is essential, partnering with Inventory Planning, Merchandising, Operations, and Transportation teams to align demand projections with operational feasibility and proactively drive solutions for conflicts while balancing business needs and customer commitments.
