Sona is an AI-native workforce management platform serving frontline organizations (restaurants, hospitals, schools, airlines, retail, emergency services) across the UK and US. The company has raised over $100M and serves 100+ enterprise customers. You'll join as a US-based Solutions Engineer, reporting to the Director of Solution Consulting in London, supporting expansion into the American market with a focus on Hospitality and Retail sectors. This is a founding role where you'll shape how Sona sells in the US market. You'll own the technical and solution-led side of the US sales process from discovery through proof-of-concept engagements and RFP responses. Key responsibilities include partnering with Account Executives to lead consultative product demonstrations, building deep expertise in the Sona platform to become a trusted advisor to US prospects, developing US-specific technical sales assets (demo environments, competitive positioning, sector playbooks), collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams to relay market feedback and ensure seamless post-sale handovers, and contributing to building Sona's US go-to-market capability by shaping processes and raising the bar for how the company sells. You'll operate with significant autonomy, running ahead of the UK team for half your day. The role requires deep familiarity with workforce management, HR tech, scheduling, or payroll solutions, and the ability to lead discovery and demos that are consultative rather than feature-led. This is a high-influence position where the Solutions Consulting function directly impacts how Sona wins enterprise deals and what the company builds next. Requirements: - Experience as a Solutions Consultant, Sales Engineer, or in a technical pre-sales role (implementation backgrounds with strong commercial exposure also considered) - Background in scheduling, workforce management, HR tech, payroll, or adjacent products; credibility in WFM conversations required from day one - Experience in a startup or scaleup environment with a complex, modern product that changes frequently; ability to learn fast and thrive on ambiguity - Strong discovery and storytelling skills; lead with problems and outcomes rather than features; ability to adapt narrative to different personas and sectors - Self-starting and proactive; capable of building process where none exists; able to operate independently across timezones - Bonus: experience with AI-powered products or genuine interest in applied AI - Bonus: early-stage solutions role experience and knowledge of building the function from scratch
