PocketHealth is a healthcare operations automation platform trusted by 900+ health systems across North America. The company automates non-clinical workflows end-to-end, serving over 3 million patients and improving capacity, financial performance, and patient outcomes.
As a Solutions Engineer, you will be a technical subject matter expert embedded within the sales organization, responsible for keeping complex enterprise deals moving from early stages through close. This is a customer-facing role from day one, working alongside Account Executives to build and maintain technical relationships with hospital IT leaders, security teams, and operations stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
**Technical Sales Presence**: Join prospect and customer calls as the technical authority, answering architecture, integration, and infrastructure questions with credibility. Demonstrate business acumen by aligning technical capabilities to product value and broadening PocketHealth's footprint within accounts.
**Security Reviews & Documentation**: Manage security questionnaires, vendor portals, and compliance reviews in collaboration with Legal and Compliance. Maintain a centralized repository of reviewed security answers and translate call outcomes into finished deliverables (scoping notes, integration write-ups, follow-up documentation) on tight deal timelines.
**Deal Scoping**: Build accurate statements of work for product implementations, accounting for integration methods, data access, and dependencies. Flag complexity triggers (unusual tech stacks, non-web applications, protocol-heavy workflows) that impact cost or pricing before contracts are signed. Validate integration assumptions early.
**Cross-functional Collaboration**: Translate customer technical requirements into internal feature requests, working strategically with Engineering and forward-deployed teams. Coach Account Executives on technical qualification, raising the quality of the sales process.
You will be mentored directly by the Enterprise Architect and will grow into full ownership of a business segment.
**Requirements:**
- 5–10 years in a customer-facing technical role (solutions engineering, sales engineering, solutions architecture, technical account management, or implementation consulting)
- Experience in early-stage, high-growth environments where speed and flexibility are paramount
- Working understanding of enterprise architecture (hybrid and public cloud), systems, and infrastructure; confidence discussing these topics with hospital IT teams, executives, and security teams
- Understanding of best practices for healthcare protocols, identity and access management, public cloud services, and data handling
- Genuine interest in information security; curiosity required as security review work comprises a meaningful share of the role
- Strong written communication skills; much output is documentation that informs purchasing decisions
- Comfort operating across both strategic and routine work (high-stakes solutioning on complex deals and disciplined, careful documentation)
- Based in the Greater Toronto Area with ability to work from downtown office twice per week
**Nice to have:**
- Experience with healthcare organizations and systems, including large Epic installations and provincially integrated environments
- Understanding of AI safety and quality (model types, training, evaluation criteria, deterministic guardrails)
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, DICOM, FHIR) and imaging/radiology workflows
- Exposure to SOC 2, vendor risk assessments, or healthcare privacy regimes (PHIPA, PIPEDA, HIPAA)
