Salary: GBP 75,000 - 200,000 / annual
Axle Energy is building software infrastructure for the decarbonised energy system. The company controls hundreds of thousands of energy assets and moves gigawatt-hours of electrons by optimizing vehicle charging, heating systems, and home batteries to shift energy usage to times when electricity is cheap and green. As a Solutions Engineer, you will build integrations and technical infrastructure enabling customers to connect distributed energy devices, orchestrate them, and participate in electricity markets. This is a generalist role spanning core software engineering, customer implementation, and solution design. You will work closely with customers to understand technical requirements, build integrations, solve complex challenges, and shape product direction based on real-world feedback.
Key responsibilities include:
- Forming deep understanding of the domain, platform, and customers' technical challenges to execute at speed
- Building and maintaining integrations with customer systems, distributed energy devices, and third-party platforms
- Troubleshooting technical issues, supporting implementations, and designing scalable solutions
- Guiding customers toward optimal launch plans and user experiences
- Collaborating with the Product team to translate customer feedback into product improvements
- Owning outcomes and quality of delivered solutions
- Managing time flexibly to deliver high-impact results amid changing scope and deadlines
Axle operates in a deliberately flat structure with fewer layers, faster decisions, and more ownership for everyone. You will spend time talking to customers, gathering user feedback, and working with market operators while collaborating with Product on scalable solutions.
Tech stack: Python + React frontend, Docker containerization, GCP deployment, and aggressive use of AI tools (Claude Code).
