Axle Energy is building software infrastructure for the decarbonized energy system, controlling hundreds of thousands of energy assets including vehicle charging, heating systems, and home batteries. The company moves gigawatt-hours of electrons in real-world markets while operating at startup speed, backed by leading investors including Energize Capital and Accel. As a Solutions Engineer, you will be a generalist engineer bridging software development, customer implementation, and solution design. Your core responsibilities include: • Building and maintaining integrations with customer systems, distributed energy devices, and third-party platforms • Working directly with customers to understand technical requirements, troubleshoot issues, and design scalable solutions • Forming deep domain expertise in energy markets, the Axle platform, and customer technical challenges • Collaborating with the Product team to translate customer feedback into product improvements • Supporting customer implementations and steering them toward optimal launch plans and user experiences • Taking ownership of solution quality and impact, focusing on delivering 80% of value in 20% of time You will operate in a deliberately flat organizational structure with fewer layers, faster decision-making, and significant ownership. The role involves both technical execution and customer-facing work, requiring you to manage your own time, adapt to changing scope, and support team members. The tech stack includes Python and React for frontend development, Docker for deployment reproducibility, GCP for cloud infrastructure, and aggressive use of AI tools (Claude Code). You'll work hybrid from the dog-friendly Farringdon office, with expectations of 2-3 days per week on-site to maximize collaboration. Compensation includes base salary (£75k–£200k), meaningful equity, enhanced parental leave, bi-annual team retreats, and the opportunity to directly shape the future of energy markets and accelerate the low-carbon transition.
