Salary: USD 183,200 - 308,400 / annual
GitLab is seeking a Manager of Public Sector Solutions Architects to lead a team serving public sector customers. This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of technical strategy, customer outcomes, and team leadership.
You will manage a team of Solutions Architects, supporting high-impact public sector opportunities and guiding technical pre-sales work from planning through execution. You'll help your team connect GitLab's DevSecOps platform to each customer's business and mission needs. In your first year, you will strengthen team execution, improve cross-functional collaboration, and coach Solutions Architects to deliver consistent technical leadership across strategic engagements.
You will report through the sales organization and work closely with regional sales managers, as well as peers in Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing. This role combines team leadership with hands-on customer-facing solution architecture work on selected opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead multiple high-impact initiatives supporting strategic public sector sales opportunities
- Manage team hiring, coaching, feedback, and retention
- Guide technical evaluations and validation efforts to help customers understand how GitLab meets their requirements
- Collaborate with regional sales managers on account strategy and cross-functional leaders on complex opportunities
- Improve team practices and execution strategies in partnership with Solutions Architect leadership
- Communicate GitLab's vision, strategy, and values to support day-to-day team work
- Track team execution through KPIs and provide clear updates to peers and leadership
- Model strong customer engagement by acting as a Solutions Architect on selected opportunities

REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-5 years of experience in Public Sector
- 2+ years of experience leading high-performing teams, ideally in a global or remote environment
- Experience leading teams with accountability for execution, coaching, and performance
- Experience in technical pre-sales or related IT role supporting customer-facing solution design
- Knowledge of modern software development or operations practices across the software delivery lifecycle
- Familiarity with cloud computing technologies and practices supporting secure, scalable adoption
- Ability to mentor others and give/receive constructive feedback in a clear, respectful way
- Experience working with other managers and cross-functional partners to develop and execute shared strategies
- Experience supporting public sector customers and understanding needs of regulated or mission-driven environments
- Openness to bringing transferable leadership and technical experience from adjacent fields where customer outcomes, collaboration, and technical credibility are important
- Must be a United States Citizen (by law, birth, or naturalization) due to customer requirements
