Neo4j is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Software Delivery team, which focuses on building an internal developer platform (IDP) for the Aura cloud offering. The role centers on platform engineering—creating self-service tools and streamlined workflows that reduce friction for engineers across Neo4j. Key responsibilities include: - Improving CI/CD infrastructure: enhancing build systems, CI runners, and build machinery to accelerate software delivery. - ArgoCD and deployment: designing and implementing the future of software delivery to production using ArgoCD and GitOps principles. - Kubernetes as control plane: extending Kubernetes capabilities to enable engineers to manage all resources through unified K8s lifecycle management. - Developer tooling: building scaffolding tools, testing frameworks, and continuous delivery platforms (e.g., Argo Rollouts) to reduce cognitive overhead and enable testing in production. - Culture: fostering modern software development practices including continuous delivery, feature flags, and production testing. Required qualifications: - Strong Kubernetes expertise: deep knowledge of core resources (Pods, Deployments, StatefulSets), the operator pattern, and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs). - Strong Go (Golang) experience: proven ability to build production systems ranging from scripts to microservices, with familiarity with Go's build and packaging ecosystem. - CI/CD pipeline expertise: hands-on experience configuring end-to-end pipelines from PR merge to production deployment, Docker containerization, and container orchestration. - Developer empathy: genuine interest in understanding developer pain points and designing solutions that improve their experience. Nice-to-have: - Experience treating an internal platform as a product, including user research, product experience design, and observability/metrics around platform adoption and performance. - Familiarity with ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, or similar GitOps tooling. - Background in platform engineering or DevOps culture.
