Neo4j is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Software Delivery team, which focuses on platform engineering and developer experience for Aura, Neo4j's managed cloud offering. The role centers on building an internal developer platform—often called the "golden path" or "paved road"—to increase engineering efficiency across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Improving CI/CD infrastructure by enhancing build runners and build machinery
- Working with ArgoCD to design and implement software delivery pipelines to production
- Leveraging Kubernetes as a control plane, enabling engineers to manage all resources through Kubernetes lifecycle management
- Building and improving developer tooling such as scaffolding for component creation, testing frameworks, and continuous delivery platforms using Argo Rollouts for production testing
- Fostering modern software development practices including continuous delivery, feature flags, and production testing
Required qualifications:
- Strong Kubernetes expertise, including deep knowledge of core resources (Pods, Deployments, StatefulSets) and the operator pattern for extending the Kubernetes API via Custom Resources
- Strong Go (Golang) experience across multiple projects, from scripting to microservice applications, with familiarity with Go's build and packaging systems
- Modern CI/CD pipeline experience, including configuring end-to-end pipelines from PR merge to production deployment, and Docker image building and management
- Developer empathy: ability to identify pain points in other engineers' workflows and design solutions
Desirable experience:
- "Platform as a product" mindset, treating the internal developer platform as a product for internal engineers
- Close collaboration with internal stakeholders to identify pain points and optimize product experience
- Observability and monitoring setup for platform performance and user behavior
