Amca is building critical components and subsystems for America's defense and aerospace industrial base, operating seven factories nationwide and delivering avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for platforms including the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, A320neo, and M1 Abrams.
The Product Software Engineer role combines product management, software engineering, and design in an extreme ownership capacity. You will identify bottlenecks in Amca's operations and build software solutions that resolve them. This requires embedding directly with teams at headquarters and across factory sites nationwide, spending meaningful time on production floors to understand how work actually gets done before designing solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Embedding with production, quality, planning, supply chain, and engineering teams to identify real operational constraints
- Interviewing operators and stakeholders to quantify the cost of current processes before proposing software solutions
- Evaluating whether software is the appropriate solution versus process or workflow changes
- Owning complete product decisions including scope, prioritization, and sequencing without a separate product manager
- Building end-to-end solutions using TypeScript and React on the frontend, Go services on the backend
- Designing interfaces yourself for production environments
- Moving quickly from concept to working software, gathering user feedback early and iterating
- Driving adoption post-launch and determining project outcomes—hardening successful prototypes or retiring unsuccessful ones
Required qualifications: 4+ years shipping production full-stack software; production experience with TypeScript and React; backend service and API development in a typed language with strong data modeling; demonstrated ownership of projects from discovery through deployment and iteration; genuine comfort working directly with non-technical users including on factory floors; willingness to travel to Amca factory sites across the US.
Preferred experience includes full-stack capabilities (TypeScript, React, Go, Python, SQL); manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, or operations-heavy domain knowledge; strong design sense; SQL proficiency; ERP/MES/PLM integration experience; track record with internal tooling adoption; startup or small-team end-to-end product ownership; aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing environment experience.
