This is an evergreen pipeline role for senior and above software engineers. Rather than a specific immediate opening, Fabric Health maintains ongoing conversations with exceptional engineers ahead of need, building a bench of talent for future team growth.
You will design, build, and own production systems that are reliable, secure, and performant under real clinical load. The work involves making high-stakes technical decisions with incomplete information, weighing tradeoffs explicitly, and standing behind those decisions. You'll raise engineering standards through code review, design guidance, and the quality bar you set—whether or not you hold a formal leadership title.
You'll partner closely with product managers, designers, and clinical experts to transform ambiguous problems into clear, well-tested solutions. You'll debug and harden complex systems, implementing safeguards to prevent recurring failures. At senior levels and above, you'll contribute to technical direction; at staff and principal levels, you'll help set architectural direction for the platform.
The ideal candidate is a mid-level or above engineer with a proven track record of shipping and owning production software. You reason clearly about systems, tradeoffs, and failure modes, and can articulate the hardest decisions you've made and why. You're genuinely language-agnostic, with recent professional work across multiple languages and frameworks. You take ownership seriously, especially when your work touches something as consequential as a person's care. You're motivated by fixing healthcare and open to an ongoing conversation ahead of a specific role opening.
Required: 3+ years professional software engineering experience with a clear record of building and owning production systems. Demonstrable recent professional depth in one or more modern languages and frameworks. Strong fundamentals in system design, data modeling, testing, and building for reliability, performance, and security. Experience collaborating across product, design, and domain experts to ship real software against ambiguous requirements. Sound engineering judgment about tradeoffs, failure modes, and system consequences.
Bonus: Healthcare software experience or work in other high-stakes, regulated, or safety-critical domains. Ability to become productive in new stacks quickly. Experience with conversational agents, real-time systems, or complex concurrency concerns. Computer science background.
