OpenAI's Customer Readiness team is building a new class of learning experiences to help enterprise users develop practical AI skills and confidence. This is a 0-to-1 product engineering role focused on defining and shipping native learning experiences, starting within ChatGPT. You will own the full-stack technical vision and execution for OpenAI's learning offering. This includes designing core systems for learner state management, progress tracking, content integration, experimentation, telemetry, and evaluation. You'll build end-to-end product experiences that guide users through real-world practice, feedback loops, and skill application. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the vision and execution for the native learning product offering - Building and launching end-to-end experiences that help users develop AI skills through practical work - Designing foundational systems: learner state, progress/re-entry, content runtime integration, experimentation, telemetry, evaluation - Creating reusable components and internal tools for education and content partners to develop and configure learning experiences - Establishing clear entry points, hands-on practice environments, feedback mechanisms, and evaluation frameworks - Partnering across Customer Readiness, EDU Engineering, learning science, research, design, data, content, and customer-facing teams - Translating product and learning goals into requirements, prototypes, milestones, and metrics - Using product data and learner feedback to evaluate quality, learning transfer, and adoption - Making pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, quality, scalability, and operational simplicity You should have substantial experience building high-quality user-facing products with a track record of staff-level technical leadership and hands-on delivery. Strong full-stack skills are essential: modern frontend (TypeScript, React), backend services and APIs, relational databases, stateful user flows, and instrumentation. Experience in 0-to-1 or fast-moving product environments where user needs and success measures evolve is critical. You'll thrive if you enjoy discovering the right product direction through shipping, measurement, and iteration; working close to real users and workflows; moving fluidly between prototype speed and production-quality engineering; collaborating with non-engineering partners; and are energized by education, behavior change, and helping people gain confidence with new technology.
