Shippo is building the shipping layer of the internet, connecting merchants to carriers worldwide through a unified API and dashboard. The company operates as a remote-first, globally distributed team.
The Software Engineer III will join the Carrier Capabilities team, a new group focused on building a faster, more consistent way to connect Shippo to the world's shipping carriers. This role is responsible for designing, building, and delivering components of the carrier integration platform and the integrations that run on it. The scope includes new integration tooling, maintenance and modernization of existing carrier integrations, and internal tools used by support, product, and partner teams.
Success means shipping carrier integrations on schedule and maintaining their health in production. The engineer will own end-to-end quality from design through release and monitoring, contributing to platform evolution decisions. The role serves three constituencies: merchants who depend on carrier coverage and reliability, internal teams operating these integrations, and carrier partners. Key metrics include time to launch new carriers, integration reliability, and operational load management.
This is a senior individual contributor role with significant technical scope and influence over platform architecture and team direction. The engineer will have direct impact on how the platform evolves and how the team measures success.
