PDI Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer III to support and maintain market-leading software products serving convenience retail and petroleum brands globally. You will play a key role in an agile engineering team focused on identifying and resolving software issues, optimizing enterprise software performance, and driving continuous improvement.
The role involves troubleshooting and debugging production issues across diverse environments, platforms, and technologies. You will work with databases, C# code, web services, and hybrid cloud infrastructure. A significant aspect of this position is leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools—such as Claude Code—and contributing to the development of PDI's own AI-powered tools, agents, and skills to improve developer productivity and automate engineering workflows.
You will guide and mentor less experienced engineers, partner with Product Management on solution feasibility and effort estimation, and work with the Product Owner to clarify and estimate feature work. You'll maintain thorough documentation of solutions, perform engineering-level testing to identify defects, and prepare case status and risk assessments for management to ensure proper escalation and prioritization of customer issues.
This is a hands-on technical role in a high-paced environment where you'll apply disciplined Agile practices to analyze and determine preferred solutions to technical challenges. You'll need strong communication skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and the ability to influence decisions without direct authority.
**Requirements:**
- 5–9 years' experience designing and developing new or maintaining existing software applications in a software product development environment
- Proficiency required in .NET and C#
- Proficiency required in SQL performance troubleshooting and tuning
- Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio IDE and Azure DevOps
- Experience using AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., Claude Code or similar)
- 2+ years of practical experience with Agile development methodologies
- Computer science fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms
- Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced, focused team
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to work under pressure
- Ability to socialize ideas and influence decisions without direct authority
- Collaborative nature with strong desire to learn independently and through questioning
- Consideration of best-practice standards, departmental policies, and procedures
- 1+ year of experience serving as a technical team lead (preferred)
