REGENT is building Seagliders—wing-in-ground-effect craft that travel just above the water's surface, combining airplane speed (180 mph) with boat-like operating costs. The company is scaling from prototype to full production and seeking a Software Engineer II to lead sensor fusion and autonomy systems. In this role, you will design and implement perception systems that enable Seagliders to understand their external environment, internal vehicle state, and operator intent. You'll spearhead rapid prototyping and innovation of perception solutions, managing trade studies and sensor evaluations. A key responsibility is integrating, calibrating, and optimizing multi-modal sensor suites—including sonar, radar, EO/IR, IMUs, and environmental sensors—to ensure robust situational awareness and reliable state estimation. You'll architect and deploy robust software build environments, transitioning vehicle software from prototypes to certified production avionics. You'll lead data collection efforts both on and off vehicle to drive iterative improvement in software design and system performance. Using high-fidelity simulations and live sea trials, you'll verify and validate perception software. As a subject matter expert in state estimation, you'll collaborate across flight controls, GNC, systems, hydrodynamics, and perception engineering disciplines. You'll take ownership of critical aspects of subscale and full-scale prototype development and testing, overseeing key phases of production craft development, validation, testing, and certification to ensure adherence to industry standards. REQUIREMENTS: - Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or directly related field - 1+ year experience in Aviation, Aerospace, Robotics, Automotive, or applicable software field - 1+ year Python coding skills - 1+ year C or C++ experience - 1+ year debugging integrated complex distributed software systems deployed on vehicles - 1+ year sensor selection, evaluation, and integration - 1+ year SLAM algorithms, systems, and frameworks - 1+ year state estimation - 1+ year designing, implementing, integrating, and debugging publish-subscribe messaging architectures - 1+ year autonomy system design (actuation, propulsion, path planning, decision making, user interfaces) - 1+ year integration and optimization of multi-modal sensors for situational awareness using sensor fusion and perception algorithms - 1+ year modern computer vision, mapping, and semantic labeling
