Salary: USD 114,330 - 170,980 / annual
Echodyne is seeking a Software Engineer II, Embedded to design and develop radar equipment subsystems powered by the company's industry-leading solid-state beam-steering radar technology. You will work with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to create high-performance, secure software solutions for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), drones, and critical infrastructure security applications.
In this hybrid role based in Kirkland, WA, you will own assigned software components and contribute to the embedded software development lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:
• Design, develop, and optimize high-assurance software components using C++
• Participate in design and code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain software quality
• Contribute to improvements in coding practices, testing methodologies, and development tools
• Support testing efforts and collaborate with partner teams across radar, signal processing, and other software engineering disciplines
• Implement platform functionality to meet specific system control and signal processing requirements
• Work alongside hardware engineers to integrate software with radar and RF systems
You will need strong embedded systems knowledge, solid debugging and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to succeed in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The role requires ownership mindset, responsiveness, and flexibility.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent military/industry experience
• 3+ years designing, implementing, integrating, and testing embedded software solutions in real-time operating environments
• Experience designing and building embedded Linux-based software applications in C++
• Embedded systems debugging, troubleshooting, and code-testing knowledge using debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or multi-meters
• Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for testing automation
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle and good coding practices
• Experience with Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows (pull requests, code reviews, branching, merge conflict resolution)
• Experience writing unit and integration tests
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across hardware and software teams
DESIRED SKILLS:
• Experience with secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC)
• Experience building tailored Linux OS's (Yocto and Bitbake) and administering Linux environments
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts, continuous integration, continuous deployment
• Experience developing secure solutions for embedded electronic RF systems (radar, electronic warfare, cellular, or wireless technology)
• Experience leading small technical efforts or mentoring junior engineers
• Experience with embedded communication protocols (UART, SPI, QSPI, I2C, TCP/UDP IP)
• Proficiency in systems-level programming, memory management, and concurrency
