As a Software Engineer specializing in Generative AI, you will design and develop secure, scalable generative AI services and applications that power enterprise-wide transformation. You'll build high-performance, low-latency APIs and microservices to integrate advanced AI models and agentic workflows into the core platform. This is a whole-systems role where you'll own the architecture of core platform components from proposal through production deployment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop robust, secure, and scalable generative AI services using Python and modern frameworks
- Build and optimize high-performance APIs and microservices for AI model integration and agentic workflows
- Make meaningful system design decisions and own architecture of core platform components end-to-end
- Implement responsive user interfaces using React and TypeScript
- Communicate clearly with cross-functional teams (product, data science, DevOps) and drive proactive collaboration
- Partner with DevOps to build continuous deployment, logging, and monitoring systems for distributed workloads
This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, New York City, or London, reporting to an engineering director or senior engineering manager. Writer is open to hiring at multiple levels with compensation scaled to experience and scope.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong Python production background
- Proven expertise building and deploying generative AI applications, leveraging LLMs and vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector)
- Experience with modern open-source agentic frameworks
- Practical experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Hands-on containerization experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Solid grasp of modern web technologies: FastAPI, Asyncio, PostgreSQL, and AI developer tooling (Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot)
- Exposure to enterprise architecture including IAM, SSO, SAML, OAuth, OIDC, RBAC, and enterprise security best practices
- Experience building services for enterprise administration and billing systems
- Collaborative mindset with ability to mentor other engineers and engage cross-functionally
- Drive to tackle complex technical challenges and proactively suggest improvements
- Accountability for delivering high-quality, resilient, scalable code from conception to production
