Iambic Therapeutics is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build agentic systems that automate biomedical data acquisition, curation, and quality control for Enchant, a multimodal transformer model trained on large-scale biomedical datasets. In this role, you will develop LLM-based agents that generate production-quality pipeline code to acquire, clean, format, and validate data from heterogeneous sources—including web pages, S3 repositories, GitHub, and academic papers. The agent outputs committed, tested pipeline code that can be re-run to reproducibly generate datasets.
Key responsibilities include: designing agentic systems that transform raw data pointers into reviewed, versioned datasets with full provenance tracking; implementing automated quality-control workflows to detect anomalies and enforce data standards; evaluating and iterating on agent architectures, prompting strategies, and validation loops to improve reliability and throughput; collaborating with ML scientists to translate data requirements into scalable systems; maintaining distributed data pipelines in production; and operating agents safely with sandboxed execution, least-privilege credentials, and comprehensive audit logging.
You will work at the intersection of LLM-based automation and biomedical data engineering, combining strong software engineering fundamentals with scientific understanding of biomedical data modalities (molecular, genomic, clinical, literature). The role requires hands-on experience with Python, LLM APIs (Claude, GPT), agentic patterns (tool use, orchestration, multi-step reasoning), data engineering fundamentals (ETL, validation, structured/unstructured data at scale), and familiarity with biomedical data formats (PDB, UniProt, ChEMBL, SDF/MOL, FASTA). Experience with agent orchestration frameworks, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), multimodal biomedical data, large-scale dataset construction for ML, and agent security practices is preferred.
