ID.me is a digital identity wallet and verification platform serving 152+ million users across 20 federal agencies, 45 state government agencies, 70+ healthcare organizations, and 600+ consumer brands. The company provides NIST 800-63-3 IAL2/AAL2 compliant identity services and commerce experiences built on top of its core platform.
As a Software Development Engineer III on the Quality Engineering team, you will design and maintain automation frameworks and testing infrastructure that enable ID.me's engineering teams to ship quickly and safely. Your work spans functional, end-to-end, and security-focused test automation, with emphasis on testing-in-production practices including canary deployments, progressive rollouts, and synthetic monitoring.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining automation frameworks using Playwright, Python, Jest, and API automation tools
- Developing end-to-end and integration tests for complex, asynchronous, event-driven systems, including workflow orchestration platforms like Temporal
- Supporting testing-in-production practices with canary deployments, progressive rollouts, and automated rollback triggers
- Creating test automation for commerce and marketplace surfaces (offers, cashback, affiliate/attribution, consent gates, persona-based experiences)
- Integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and building reusable workflow components
- Leveraging AI tools to accelerate test authoring, test plan generation, and code review
- Collaborating with development teams on testable code structure and coverage gaps
- Debugging and root-causing issues across frontend, backend, APIs, and distributed services
- Defining and tracking reliability metrics (time to detect, time to remediate)
You'll work closely with engineering, product, and security teams to raise the bar on quality and resilience across a platform that verifies identity for millions of users and the commerce experiences built on top of it.
