Salary: USD 147,000 - 178,000 / annual
Muon Space, a LEO satellite constellation provider founded in 2021, seeks a Chief of Staff for its Software Organization. This role serves as a strategic operations and organizational leadership position reporting to the Vice President of Software.
You will drive organizational maturity across the software engineering function by owning the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) process, ensuring alignment between software priorities and broader company/government mission objectives. Key responsibilities include designing and executing the onboarding and training strategy for engineering talent, managing cross-functional escalations around deadlines and resource allocation, and developing communication strategies for both internal software teams and external stakeholder engagement (particularly government and defense partners).
As a trusted advisor to the VP of Software, you will act as a proxy on strategic initiatives, freeing leadership to focus on long-term innovation and capability development. You will collaborate with chiefs of staff across partner organizations to establish consistent processes and a unified operating model. You will also champion organizational culture, ensuring company values and mission are embedded throughout the software organization.
This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week on-site in San Jose. The position demands 10+ years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in demanding strategic roles such as program management, business operations, or management consulting. You should demonstrate exceptional project management and execution skills, strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking that connects vision to tactical implementation, and outstanding communication skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
