January is a fintech company transforming consumer credit collections by making the process more human-centered and data-driven. The company has serviced over $20 billion in debt across 20+ million consumers and achieves 30% higher net recovery rates for creditors while maintaining significantly higher consumer satisfaction than traditional banks. As Chief of Staff, you'll be the closest operational partner to the Founder and CEO, driving organizational transformation as January scales from a single product to multiple offerings. This is a strategic operations role focused on decision velocity and organizational clarity. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and running a six-week planning cycle that keeps teams focused on high-impact problems weekly rather than quarterly - Owning operating reviews where the team surfaces and addresses off-track initiatives - Running triage between reviews to catch slippage early - Conducting diligence on strategic bets, building unit economics models and decision memos - Building board decks and investor narratives, owning investor communications - Making company performance transparent through regular storytelling on wins and misses - Identifying orphaned problems and taking ownership of them - Pushing decision-making authority down to those with the most context - Partnering with Business Operations on cross-functional initiatives You'll obsess over iteration speed and decision cycle efficiency. You think in base rates and first principles, ask diagnostic questions others miss, and believe in ruthless prioritization. You're comfortable building first versions with minimal resources and want to push LLM tooling deep into your own workflows. You prize truth-seeking and candor over politeness, and you write clearly so arguments can happen in public. Ideal candidates have 4+ years of relevant experience, often from PE/VC operating roles, strategy and operations at fast-moving companies, or similar high-velocity environments. You've worked across multiple organizational altitudes from board-level strategy to detailed execution.
