Salary: USD 117,000 - 130,000 / annual
Acorns is seeking a Social Media Manager to lead the company's voice on social media platforms and drive financial wellness messaging into culture. This is a hands-on, creative role focused on original content creation, experimentation, and rapid execution across social channels.
You will own the end-to-end social media strategy for Acorns and Acorns Early, connecting social initiatives to broader marketing and business objectives. Key responsibilities include:
- Creating distinctive, thumb-stopping content across multiple formats: user-generated content, in-house productions, educational entertainment, behind-the-scenes moments, trend-driven content, CEO-led initiatives, and real customer stories
- Setting and executing social strategy across Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms, with a focus on organic growth
- Developing and managing a dynamic content calendar that ensures timely, relevant, and strategically aligned posts
- Sourcing, scoping, and managing external creators to diversify content and reach priority communities
- Handling day-to-day community management, engaging authentically with followers, and collaborating with support teams on customer inquiries and escalations
- Analyzing social performance metrics and reporting on engagement, audience growth, and content effectiveness to optimize strategy
- Owning the Acorns brand voice and visual presence across all social channels
- Staying ahead of cultural trends and identifying opportunities to integrate Acorns into relevant conversations within fintech, investing, and broader culture
This role reports to the Senior Director of Brand Marketing. Acorns is a remote-first organization with optional office access in Irvine, CA.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-8+ years of hands-on experience creating content and managing social media channels
- End-to-end creator skills: ability to concept, script, shoot, and edit with speed, precision, and intention
- Creative mindset with strategic thinking: understanding both why content works and how to execute it
- Self-starter mentality; ability to identify opportunities and execute without waiting for perfect briefs
- Cultural fluency and trend awareness; ability to recognize emerging trends and position Acorns within relevant conversations
- Genuine empathy for community and understanding of how brands show up for their audiences
- Passion for delivering impactful products and belief that work connects to life mission
- Fintech knowledge is a plus but not required; social media instincts take priority over industry background
