MinIO is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join its engineering team working on the data and memory foundation for enterprise AI. The role combines DevOps and software engineering to enhance, optimize, validate, and automate MinIO's cloud-native object storage platform, ensuring high performance, scalability, and durability for demanding AI and analytics workloads.
You will work closely with customers and the engineering team to push the boundaries of distributed storage performance and reliability. Key responsibilities include enhancing core MinIO software for performance and security, building high-performance distributed storage solutions with cloud-native architectures, validating software against customer environments, improving existing features and fixing critical issues, and contributing to open-source repositories. You'll conduct performance benchmarking and debugging of complex storage environments, collaborate with cross-functional teams on architecture and APIs, and work directly with customers to address issues and manage expectations.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, plus 5+ years of professional software engineering experience. You should have expertise in DevOps, GitOps, automation and testing frameworks, distributed systems, networking, and high-performance computing. Strong proficiency in Go is desired (or deep experience in C/C++/Rust with willingness to learn Go). Experience with cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, containers, microservices), storage systems, file systems, or databases is essential. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, experience debugging large-scale applications, and a passion for innovation. Open-source contributions are a plus. You should thrive in fast-moving, collaborative environments with strong ownership mentality, empathy toward customers, self-motivation, and commitment to continuous learning.
