Business Insider's video team is hiring a Showrunner and Host to develop, produce, and present original episodes of the flagship YouTube series Pushing Limits, which explores the outer edges of science, engineering, technology, and human performance—from mile-high skyscrapers and life in space to record-breaking strength, supersonic travel, and the deepest holes ever drilled.
This role combines video journalism with on-camera hosting and team leadership. You will take stories from initial pitch through finished episode, managing the entire production process. Responsibilities include pitching and researching stories optimized for YouTube and other platforms, conducting interviews, writing scripts, planning shoots, and overseeing editing and post-production. You will serve as the on-camera host, delivering scripted narration, reporting from the field, and interviewing experts and subjects with confidence and curiosity.
You will oversee a small team consisting of an associate producer and editor who report directly to you, and you must be comfortable managing production schedules for multiple episodes simultaneously. You will also partner with freelance shooters, editors, and motion designers across every stage of production.
The role requires sharp editorial judgment, knowledge of current trends in technology, strong visual sensibility, and an instinct for narratives and structures that succeed on YouTube. You should have a commitment to fair, accurate, and inclusive storytelling.
Based in NYC headquarters with an in-office expectation of three days per week. Internally classified as Senior Managing Producer.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience reporting, researching, and fact-checking video scripts for digital video, ideally in consumer business, science, technology, engineering, or adjacent fields
- Demonstrated on-camera hosting and interviewing experience, including taped reads and unscripted field reporting
- Strong point of view on story selection and visual storytelling
- Knowledge of field production, shooting, and post-production workflows
- Familiarity with editorial and audience considerations that drive successful YouTube videos
- Experience managing full-time in-house direct reports, as well as freelance shooters and editors
- Commitment to fair, accurate, and inclusive storytelling; passion for business journalism is a plus
