Applied Intuition is seeking a Sensor Validation Engineer to lead sensor validation and characterization efforts for their Sensor Simulation and Self-Driving System (SDS) products serving the automotive, trucking, and construction & mining industries. In this role, you will execute validation and characterization protocols for Lidar, Radar, Camera, and Ultrasonic sensors to ensure performance accuracy across diverse operating environments. You'll improve the fidelity and accuracy of synthetic simulations by developing and refining machine learning and physical models of sensing systems, materials, and world environments. A key responsibility is conducting physical sensor performance validation for autonomous vehicle stacks, comparing physical hardware data against simulated models to ensure high-accuracy perception. You'll collaborate closely with engineering teams to bridge the gap between physical sensor data and synthetic model development, ensuring that simulation environments accurately represent real-world sensor behavior. This requires strong technical skills in Python for data analysis and automation, hands-on experience with sensor validation and characterization across multiple sensing modalities, and proficiency in Linux/Unix environments including shell scripting. Experience with sensor driver development and UDP architectures for raw sensor data extraction is essential. Applied Intuition is a $15 billion Series A company founded in 2017, headquartered in Sunnyvale with global offices across North America, Europe, and Asia. The company powers physical AI infrastructure for autonomous systems, trusted by 18 of the top 20 global automakers and the U.S. military. The role is in-office based in Sunnyvale with flexibility for occasional remote work.
