1X is building general-purpose humanoid robots (NEO) designed to work safely alongside humans in any environment. The company is shipping production units and scaling operations across robotics, AI, software, hardware, manufacturing, and operations.
You will own the 1X Developer Platform and serve as the technical program manager responsible for the integrated product development and launch schedule. This is a critical-path role that connects software teams (firmware, Companion app, AI), product management, design, and hardware teams into a single credible roadmap.
Key responsibilities:
- Own and drive the integrated product development and launch schedule, turning requirements into reality
- Build one unified plan from multiple teams and reconcile it with hardware timelines and dependencies
- Define credible milestones, owners, dependencies, and dates aligned with overall product goals
- Manage cross-team dependencies and blockers; make handoffs explicit and surface risks early
- Maintain strong cross-functional communication across software engineers, product managers, designers, and hardware partners
- Drive the fastest credible path to launch by parallelizing work, accelerating decisions, and removing constraints
- Communicate schedule truth in plain language to engineers and executives
You will work closely with all software teams and coordinate with hardware teams to ensure roadmaps converge on shippable robots. This role requires building integrated schedules from engineering reality, earning trust across functions, and driving decisions to closure.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in software engineering or technical program management for complex software products spanning multiple teams/orgs
- Experience taking at least one large software multi-team initiative from 0 to 1
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage an integrated schedule spanning multiple teams, including dependencies outside your control
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, related engineering field, or equivalent hands-on experience
PREFERRED:
- Experience in robotics, automotive, or high-volume consumer launches
- Familiarity with hardware product development
- Exposure to products where software readiness gates hardware builds
- Experience with schedule and program management tools (Linear, MS Project, Jira)
