Fortanix is seeking a Senior/Staff Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to architect, build, and evolve the infrastructure and tooling that powers the company's products and engineering organization. This is a highly technical, hands-on role spanning cloud, on-premises, data center, Kubernetes, networking, CI/CD, and software development.
You will design and operate scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure across hybrid multicloud environments. Key responsibilities include identifying and solving complex infrastructure challenges, building internal developer platforms and tools, designing and optimizing CI/CD systems, and automating provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational workflows. You'll improve developer experience by partnering with engineering teams to eliminate bottlenecks, develop reusable Infrastructure as Code and platform capabilities, and establish consistent engineering practices.
The role requires troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, participating in incident response and root-cause analysis, evaluating technologies and architectural approaches, and leading technical initiatives that span multiple engineering teams. You'll influence architecture decisions and contribute to long-term infrastructure and developer productivity strategy.
Required qualifications include 6+ years in infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or related fields. You need strong programming fundamentals with production-quality tool development experience, deep Kubernetes expertise including troubleshooting, and hands-on cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) or on-premises/bare-metal systems. Infrastructure as Code proficiency (Terraform, Ansible) is essential, along with CI/CD platform design experience, strong Linux and networking knowledge, and server provisioning/configuration management expertise. You should have hands-on experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef), strong programming skills in Go, Python, Rust, or C++, observability and monitoring experience, and the ability to lead complex technical initiatives and drive scalable solutions to production.
