Rhoda AI is building the next generation of generalist intelligent robots, owning the full stack from hardware and robot systems to foundation world models. The company has raised over $450M and is scaling aggressively across model research, infrastructure, hardware development, and manufacturing.
You will be Rhoda's first dedicated UX/UI designer, shaping the digital interfaces that operators, customer stakeholders, and internal teams use to interact with robots in real-world deployments. This is a foundational role that establishes design tone, processes, and standards for the company.
Key responsibilities:
- Design UX and UI for human-machine interfaces for operating, monitoring, and interacting with robots in real-world deployments
- Design fleet status and management dashboards that surface real-time system health, task progress, and operational state across large robot deployments
- Own the full design process from ideation, wireframes, and interaction design through high-fidelity visual design and handoff to development
- Deliver design concepts and assets using modern tooling such as Figma and Claude Design
- Develop user journeys and flows mapping how internal teams and external clients interact with products, surfacing pain points and opportunities
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and operations to ensure designs are technically grounded and shippable
- Build and maintain a visual design system and establish standards for Rhoda's product design approach
This role offers high ownership and real influence over the product experience from day one. You'll design interfaces that real people use to operate real robots in environments where good UX directly affects outcomes, at a foundational moment in a company building technology that will define the next generation of intelligent machines.
Requirements:
- Portfolio demonstrating both strong UX thinking (flows, journeys, information hierarchy) and high-caliber UI execution (visual design, layout, aesthetics)
- 4+ years of experience designing complex, real-time interfaces with data density and time-sensitivity that connect to physical hardware in the real world
- Comfort operating across the full design spectrum: from rough sketches and whiteboard sessions to polished, precise handoffs
- Strong eye for visual design with deep care for typography, color, spacing, and details that separate good from great
- Ability to think through multi-step user flows, edge cases, and error states in complex, high-stakes environments involving human safety and multiple autonomous agents
- Strong proficiency with industry-standard design tooling and pipelines
- Self-directed with strong communication skills, including ability to collaborate with highly technical teams while advocating for user needs
Nice to have:
- Experience in robotics, industrial automation, manufacturing, warehousing, or other mission-critical operations environments
- Background in HMI or control interface design for hardware devices
- Familiarity with designing for real-time data visualization and streaming state
- Experience as a first or early designer at a startup requiring setting processes from the ground up
