Oura is seeking a Senior UX Researcher to join the Design Research team within the Human Care mission, where the company expands beyond activity tracking into clinical-grade health products. Human Care focuses on helping members understand and act on their health data, connect to clinical care when needed, and generate evidence of meaningful health outcomes. In this role, you will be the voice of the user for products at the intersection of consumer experience and regulated healthcare. You'll partner closely with product managers, designers, and clinical scientists to uncover deep user insights that shape product development, with particular attention to the nuance and care required in health-sensitive contexts. Key responsibilities include: - Lead user research for software connecting members to healthcare partners, conducting ethnographic studies, contextual inquiries, interviews, surveys, and diary studies to gather qualitative and quantitative data. - Bring clinical and regulatory context into product decisions, understanding how FDA-regulated features, HIPAA consent flows, and EHR integrations shape what's appropriate for members. - Develop research-backed frameworks for surfacing clinical-grade data (biomarkers, lab results, risk signals) to consumer audiences in ways that are clear, actionable, and emotionally resonant without causing unnecessary alarm. - Partner with clinical and health science teams to bridge behavioral and physiological insights, understanding both user actions and the health context driving those behaviors. - Build and maintain a longitudinal view of members from a connected-care lens—their motivations, anxieties, health literacy, and relationship with clinical care—to inform roadmap prioritization. You bring 5+ years of professional UX research experience with meaningful work at the intersection of consumer products and healthcare, digital health, or clinical technology. You have demonstrated ability to research complex, high-stakes experiences (medical devices, clinical software, diagnostic tools, telehealth, patient-facing health apps) where decisions have real consequences. You understand health literacy variation across populations and can design research accounting for members ranging from highly health-engaged to newly diagnosed to clinical-care-avoidant. You have experience navigating regulated or compliance-sensitive environments (HIPAA, FDA, IRB) and understand how those constraints shape research design. You have a strong point of view on making clinical data legible to non-clinical audiences and can operate independently across multiple concurrent workstreams while building a respected research program. Bonus experience includes researching connected care or care coordination products, familiarity with metabolic health or cardiometabolic care pathways, or prior work with B2B healthcare products where research audiences include clinical administrators or care teams.
