Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Air Defense team builds autonomous systems that detect and neutralize aerial threats, providing critical force protection to service members. As a Senior User Experience Researcher, you will drive product and program strategy for the Air Defense portfolio by delivering rigorous user insights and research-backed recommendations.
You will conduct comprehensive UX research including service blueprints, contextual inquiry, in-field ethnography, focus groups, usability testing, and surveys. Your work will directly influence tactical and strategic product decisions. You'll use storytelling and data visualization to inspire alignment among partners and stakeholders, translating complex research findings into actionable insights that prioritize both user needs and business objectives.
Key responsibilities include designing and executing research studies with clear objectives and minimal oversight, operationalizing research insights through repositories and efficient communication workflows, and shaping end-to-end operator experiences for critical military workflows. You will also establish UX research best practices within the Air Defense division and share methodologies across the broader organization.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in HCI, Human Factors, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Design, or equivalent; 5+ years of user research experience on digital products; demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity and design impactful research approaches; portfolio showing research that influenced both tactical and strategic product work; strong cross-functional communication skills; eligibility for U.S. Top Secret clearance; 25-30% travel expected.
Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in related field; active security clearance; group facilitation and workshop leadership; experience defining UX research capabilities in startup environments; research operations expertise; hardware and human factors experience; quantitative research skills including surveys, max-diff analysis, and data programming.
