Valar Atomics is building scalable, advanced nuclear power systems to unlock clean, high-temperature energy for industrial applications, hydrogen production, and next-generation manufacturing. The company is Series A-funded and constructing its first pilot plant in Utah. This Senior University Recruiter role is a foundational opportunity to design and own Valar's entire university recruiting program from the ground up. You will build the campus recruiting strategy—including target school selection, brand presence, career fair participation, and relationship development—and then operate it as a scalable, steady-state function. Key responsibilities include: - Design and launch the university recruiting strategy, including target school selection, campus event calendar, and career fair presence - Build and own the end-to-end internship and new-grad hiring pipeline (sourcing, screening, offer, close) - Establish and manage relationships with career services offices, faculty, and student organizations at priority schools - Partner with hiring managers across engineering, nuclear, and operations teams to forecast headcount needs and calibrate candidate profiles - Build systems and processes (Greenhouse, Gem configuration, candidate tracking, conversion reporting) to scale university recruiting - Develop return-offer and conversion strategies to transition interns to full-time roles - Track and report on program metrics (applications per school, conversion rates, offer-accept rates, cost per hire) to guide school investment prioritization - Serve as a company ambassador on campus, communicating Valar's mission and technical work to student audiences You will need 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience with demonstrated ownership of a university or early-career program. You should have built a recruiting program or process from scratch without an existing playbook, developed school and faculty relationships that convert into hiring pipelines, and be proficient with ATS/CRM platforms (Greenhouse, Gem, or similar). Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential, as is willingness to travel 30–40% for campus visits and career fairs. Preferred experience includes recruiting for engineering-heavy or technical/scientific fields (mechanical, electrical, nuclear, chemical engineering), familiarity with nuclear engineering or adjacent hard-tech and energy university programs, standing up a Talent function in a startup or scaling company, and designing internship conversion or return-offer programs. The role offers competitive base salary, equity ownership, comprehensive medical benefits, unlimited PTO, free daily lunch and dinner onsite, a generous PPE stipend, and the opportunity to work in a high-impact startup environment with significant ownership and autonomy.
