Ascent Developer Solutions is a leading private lending platform serving real estate developers nationwide in acquisition, renovation, and construction of residential real estate. The Senior Underwriter – Manufactured Housing Communities role is responsible for evaluating, structuring, and presenting credit opportunities secured by manufactured housing communities and related real estate assets, while maintaining portfolio quality and supporting strategic loan growth objectives.
Key responsibilities include leading complex underwriting assignments for MHC lending opportunities (acquisitions, refinances, bridge loans, recapitalizations, expansions, value-add transactions); analyzing borrower financial statements, tax returns, liquidity, net worth, and organizational structures to assess sponsor strength and creditworthiness; evaluating MHC collateral through detailed analysis of rent rolls, operating statements, occupancy trends, lot utilization, tenant-owned versus park-owned home composition, utility reimbursement structures, and capital expenditure requirements; assessing transaction risks and structuring loan recommendations aligned with Ascent's credit standards and risk appetite; preparing comprehensive underwriting memoranda and presenting recommendations to Credit Committee and senior management; reviewing appraisals, environmental reports, engineering assessments, and market studies; evaluating community infrastructure including roads, water systems, sewer systems, electrical distribution, and deferred maintenance; and monitoring market conditions, industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics.
The successful candidate will mentor junior team members, collaborate with originations and asset management teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to Credit Committee and executive leadership. Strong financial analysis skills, exceptional credit judgment, and comprehensive understanding of MHC operations, market dynamics, infrastructure considerations, and sponsor execution risk are essential.
