Turion Space is building critical infrastructure for the space economy through vertically integrated hardware and software. DROID is their line of space vehicles, and Starfire is their software suite covering simulation, modeling, planning, and operations. They are seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to shape the user experience and visual direction of their Mission Control software suite. In this role, you will be embedded with the Mission Control Software team, responsible for designing intuitive, scalable, and operationally effective interfaces for complex aerospace workflows. You will work closely with mission operators, customers, product stakeholders, and frontend engineers to understand user needs, translate operational workflows into clear product experiences, and ensure applications are designed with usability, consistency, and long-term scalability. Key responsibilities include driving UI/UX design for Mission Control applications, conducting UX research including user interviews and usability testing, translating complex aerospace workflows into clear user experiences, creating user flows and high-fidelity Figma designs, establishing and maintaining design systems and component libraries, collaborating with frontend engineers on implementation, contributing to product planning, providing design QA feedback, mentoring other designers and cross-functional partners, and maintaining active feedback loops with mission operators and customers. You will own the design process from research and concept development through high-fidelity designs, engineering handoff, and post-release iteration. This is a senior design role that goes beyond visual execution—you will lead discovery efforts, establish strong UX practices, and help the team move from simply building interfaces to building coherent, operator-centered product experiences. Required qualifications include a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design for complex software, advanced Figma proficiency, strong UI/UX fundamentals, UX research skills, experience with scalable interfaces for complex workflows, design systems expertise, information architecture skills, ability to operate in technical domains, close collaboration experience with engineers and product teams, and clear communication abilities. Nice-to-have experience includes aerospace/defense/mission operations design, responsive design across multiple environments, design system formalization, mentoring experience, AI tool integration, and familiarity with component-based frontend development.
