Salary: USD 120,000 - 180,000 / annual
Formlabs is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to shepherd new 3D printing technology from concept through production. The company's technology powers innovation at over 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA.
In this role, you will serve as the nexus between the program team, product stakeholders, and senior management, coordinating all activities from design to product launch. You will manage technically complex product development programs, owning strategy, planning, execution, and delivery. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing program budgets and staffing plans, with accountability for every dollar spent
- Creating and maintaining product cost models throughout development, ensuring end products hit cost targets
- Acting as the key link between program teams and stakeholders, with frequent reporting to company leadership
- Applying disciplined project management methodology to define scope and deliver programs within cost and schedule constraints
- Monitoring projects, evaluating progress and quality, managing issue resolution, and communicating status, risks, and key issues to stakeholders and senior management
- Driving cross-functional collaboration between product, engineering, production, and supply chain teams
You will be passionate about learning, taking on new challenges, shipping impactful products, and building strong collaborative relationships across teams.
This is an in-person role based in Somerville, MA.
**Requirements:**
- Minimum 3 years of program management experience
- Deep understanding of technical product design life cycle and problem-solving processes
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to drive decision-making (trade-off discussions, program strategy)
- Business acumen and ability to break down program decisions in financial terms
- Passion for improving schedule and project efficiency
- Cross-functional collaboration experience between product, engineering, production, and supply chain; experience communicating upward to senior management and managing high output from individual contributors
- Demonstrated experience creating and implementing program management tools (communication, scheduling, risk management, resource planning, cost tracking, production planning)
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- B.S. degree or higher in engineering or science discipline
**Bonus qualifications:**
- Experience shipping high technically complex products as a design engineer
- Experience in startup environments or highly entrepreneurial companies
- Experience leading hardware development with overseas manufacturing partners
