Graphcore is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to own the reliability and operational excellence of AI compute hardware as it scales from lab discovery to data centre deployment. You will lead advanced operational, diagnostic and engineering support across lab and production environments, working at the intersection of hardware validation, platform bring-up and data centre operations.
Key responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving failures across server blades, racks, power systems, thermal behaviour, network configuration and BIOS/BMC issues. You will conduct structured root cause analysis, develop corrective actions and establish better operating practices. This is hands-on engineering with visible impact—you will support new AI compute platforms from early bring-up through full deployment, helping Graphcore move faster with confidence.
You will collaborate closely with Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, server engineering, firmware teams, platform architects and data centre operations. The team moves quickly during bring-up and validation cycles, with engineers expected to act decisively, take ownership and escalate issues when needed. Decisions are shaped by data, system behaviour and practical engineering judgement. You will guide junior engineers, improve documentation and raise the standard of hardware diagnostics across the organisation.
Required experience includes strong knowledge of server hardware architectures and board-level debugging, hands-on experience isolating failures using system logs, telemetry, power data and thermal metrics, and background with HPC systems, AI compute platforms or rack-scale infrastructure. You should be comfortable leading structured problem-solving, proposing practical solutions and working confidently across engineering, platform and data centre teams. Clear written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the judgement to mentor and guide others.
