Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing autonomous systems and aircraft to protect service members and civilians. The company's products include Hivemind autonomy software, V-BAT and X-BAT aircraft, and Aechelon simulation technologies, with operations across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
You will define and execute the vision of the Launch and Recovery Vehicle power system from concept through production. This is a technical leadership role combining hands-on engineering expertise with team leadership and cross-functional coordination.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and integrate high-power systems optimized for performance and reliability in harsh environments
- Guide teammates on custom power electronic designs and make-vs-buy trade studies
- Select, test, and integrate power modules for aircraft integration
- Ensure system performance and reliability through rigorous verification and testing
- Debug complex electrical, environmental, and manufacturing-related problems
- Build and lead a team of multiple engineers dedicated to power system design
- Drive cross-functional execution of top-level architecture
- Provide mentorship, design reviews, and program execution leadership
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of relevant power system design experience on large vehicles, aircraft, or equivalent systems (rocket, satellite, submarine, etc.)
- Demonstrated track record of delivering power system and power electronic products to market
- Proficiency with electrical engineering development tools, simulation, and test equipment
- Strong technical fundamentals and analytical capabilities
